    Abstract

A microstrip phase shifter using ferroelectric electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) ground plane was proposed. The X-band microstrip phase shifter was designed using lower dielectric substrates with microwave design software. The tunable phase shifter was obtained by changing the inductances or capacitances of the EBG ground plane. The results show that the microstrip phase shifter using a ferroelectric EBG ground plane possesses narrow bandwidth. However, it is easy to integrate to the microstrip circuit and convenient to control the phase delay with an external dc bias.
