Abstract

2-Bromobenzaldehyde is carbonylatively cyclised with alcohols in the presence of a catalytic amount of PdCl2(PPh3)2/PPh3 together with a base to afford the corresponding 3-alkoxy-3H-isobenzofuran-1-ones in good yields.
