Abstract

2-Bromobenzaldehyde is carbonylatively cyclised with alcohols in the presence of a catalytic amount of PdCl₂(PPh₃)₂/PPh₃ together with a base to afford the corresponding 3-alkoxy-3H-isobenzofuran-1-ones in good yields.
