    Abstract

Adaptive hypermedia is a way to provide different contents to users with different backgrounds based on user models and adaptation models defined inside a system. While it is possible to define various types of adaptations that can be made in a system, they are rather simple in the sense that they have a simple pattern, i.e., eventcondition- action. In this paper, we propose a way to extend adaptive services in such a way that adaptations can be supported by a Semantic Web reasoning service. The advantage of our approach lies in that more general adaptations which are based on first order logic can be supported. To illustrate our ideas, we have implemented a system by which an open source adaptive hypermedia system, AHA! (http://aha.win.tue.nl) is combined with an open source Semantic Web reasoning system, EYE (http://eulersharp.sourceforge.net/).
