Abstract

Ring-based multiprocessor systems using pointto-point links are popular. However, study about ringbased soft real-time system is rare. In this paper, we introduce three protocols:fixed priority protocol, deadline-based protocol, deadline-based protocol with window. We also show the performance of real-time/nonreal-time packets by analytical models and simple example. By simple example, we found that the deadlinebased protocol is good for real-time packets. In this protocol, however, the delay of non real-time packets is too long. To ameliorate the performance of non real-time packets, deadline-based protocol with window could be used.
