Abstract

Recent popularity of mobile devices such as PDA and cellphone has made wireless Internet access very crucial. However, most Web contents and services are optimized for desktop computing environment. Taking different system features of mobile devices such as small display, limited input capability and low power into consideration, an alternative access scheme to the Web has to be invented. On the other hand, personalization plays an important role in the tailored access to the Web contents and services. In this paper, we propose a proxy-based personalizing scheme of Web service pages for mobile users. It automatically provides mobile users with the tailored list of Web services well suited for diverse mobile devices. Eventually, mobile users can access Web service pages with minimum navigation on the small display. In addition, users can be provided with customized services. We have performed several experiments on the prototype system and reported some of the results.
