Abstract

Density of liquid CaO-SiO2-Al2O3 system and its structure modification with increasing Al2O3 content was studied at a fixed ratio of CaO/SiO2=1.3. For this investigation, density of the liquid oxides was investigated in the temperature range of 2023 to 2423 K using the aerodynamic levitation technique. The Raman spectroscopy technique was used to understand the structural modification of the quenched oxides with increasing Al2O3 content. The density of all the prepared samples decreases with increasing temperature. With increasing Al2O3 content, density decreases up to 19.79 mole% and increases with further increase of Al2O3 due to Al3+ ion role as network modifier.
