Abstract

Cathodoluminescence (CL) from zinc-oxide (ZnO) single nanorods synthesized by using a hydrothermal treatment was studied. The near-band UV emission (NBE) and the deep-level visible emission (DLE) were investigated upon post-annealing at various annealing temperatures. With increasing post-annealing temperature and oxygen content, in the in situ CL spectra, the UV peak was redshifted while the visible peak was blueshifted. The intensity of the UV peak decreased with increasing e-beam irradiation time while that of the visible peak increased slightly.
