Abstract

The use of synthetic materials that emitted various chemical substances had led to increase of indoor air pollutants such as VOCs, Aldehyde. And the causes of indoor air pollution in these days are not only by the constructional materials, but living supplies such as electric home appliances. The emission composition from them has been potentially associated with health risks for building habitants. These previous studies have implicated these electric home appliances as sources of indoor air pollutants. Especially VOCs and formaldehyde, these compounds have been shown to cause symptoms similar to those forming the Sick Building Syndrome(SBS) and MCS(Multiple Chemical Sensibility), a group of symptoms including sleepiness, irritability, inability to concentrate, and other hazards. So, in this study was to examined the emissions composition for different types of home appliances being used in Korea. The emission rates were evaluated by determining emission rates of the target compound from the selected products using an electro polished stainless steel test chamber electric home appliances by to be interested and studied constantly.
