Abstract
Various types of interface are found in the polymeric insulating systems, including the macroscopic interface in polymer laminates and the randomly distributed microscopic interface in polymer blends. It is interesting therefore to investigate whether the interfacial phenomena in polymer blends can be explained via the results obtained with the laminate samples. In this study, an attempt has been made to correlate the role or effect of interface in polymer blends via the results with the laminate samples. It is found that large amount of charge accumulate near the interface in the laminate samples, resulting in an increase of the electric field in the polyethylene layers. This may enhance homocharge injection in the PE layer. The heterocharge in PE/EVA (ethylene vinylacetate) blends decreases as the vinyl acetate content of blends increases.
