Abstract

According to the worldwide interest on CO2 control, new techniques to reduce CO2 are under development. This study focuses on CO2 absorption and regeneration technology such as CO2 capture and storage (CCS). CO2 absorption is a kind of physical treatment. The absorption rate of a physical absorption method is generally weaker than that of a chemical method at room temperature. However it needs much less energy during the regeneration process. In the present study, SiO 2/H2O nanofluids are used to improve the CO2 regeneration performance. The key parameters are the concentration of SiO 2 nanoparticles and the system pressure during the regeneration process, which range from 0.005 to 0.05 vol% and 5-16 bar, respectively. It is found that the regeneration performance increased up to 12% at 0.01 vol% in comparison with the distilledwater.
