Abstract
The coupling between magnetic/nonmagnetic semiconductor quantum dots (QD) in double-layer geometry is investigated. A striking intensity drop is observed in the photoluminence (PL) emitted by the double-layer quantum dots (DLQD) when an external magnetic field is applied, which sharply contrasts with the increase of PL intensity observed in the reference single QD layer consisting of CdMnSe QDs. The phenomena is discussed in terms of the multidot band structure whose relative band-edge alignment is changing with magnetic field via the Zeeman splitting in the diluted magnetic semiconductor (DMS) QDs.
