Abstract

A transport-layer protocol is designed and implemented for IPC (interprocess communication) in a LAN environment. The protocol uses various protocol entities, depending on the characteristics of the transmission data and transmission medium. Multicasting and broadcasting facilities are included. The protocol has been implemented in a 4. 2BSD Unix environment and its performance was tested in a local network environment.
