Abstract

The design and synthesis of a new pH sensitive Polymeric Sensor using Flourescence Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) technology is discussed. FRET offers a better way for monitoring a single molecular event, providing a general platform to design a sensor molecule for detecting the variation in molecular environment as these molecular events usually occur reversibly or irreversibly at a specific condition. FRET probe is particularly used for pH detection in aqueous media, attracting much interest for medical, biological and environmental applications. FRET probe is an effective tool for optical signaling of a diseased state, such as presence of a tumor tissue and also works as a alarm for a hazard threshold in environmental applications.
