Abstract
The turnover safety of a stand type Liquid crystal display (LCD) such as in a display unit is very important. More often, the display unit includes a swivel mechanism by which a user can change the orientation of the display panel. For such a display unit, turnover safety is governed by the structural stiffness of the stand including the swivel structure. So far, the structural design of the LCD display unit has been based on an intuitional approach with exhaustive physical prototype tests. In this work, a novel approach based on the concept of safety index, design of experiments and response surface methodology is suggested.
