Abstract

A novel digital servo control system is designed for the drum motor (brushless DC motor) in a home VCR. This control system is implemented by using a TMS320C25 DSP (digital signal processor). The control algorithm uses digital PID (proportional + integral + derivative) with anti-reset windup. With this system, it is possible to control both speed and phase precisely. The characteristics of the servo system are superior to those of the conventional system. Details of hardware and software design are presented.
