title = "Development of a microfluidic device for performing sample preconcentration and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry",
abstract = "We report on a microfabricated device for sensitive mass spectrometry (MS) by coupling sample preconcentration and electrospray ionization (ESI) in a glass microchip. The device allows highly efficient cation-selective electropreconcentration to be performed by surface coating of a micro-nano-microchannel structure with a positively charged polymer, polyE-323, which also prevents protein/peptide adsorption in the channel. An integrated electrokinetic hydraulic pump enables direct ESI at the monolithic spray tip with no dead volume. Sample preconcentration and enhanced MS signal have been demonstrated with Rhodamine 6G.",
