    Abstract

The objective of this study is to develop a simulation program for the refrigeration cycle of anindirect cooling type water purifier. The refrigeration cycle includeda water tank as well as the basic refrigerating components such as a compressor, a condenser, a capillary, and an evaporator. Thesimulation model wasdeveloped based on the mass and energy balances, and verified by the experiments at various operating conditions. With the simulation program, the parametric study was conducted to analyze the effect of the design parameters on the energy consumption of the refrigeration cycle for the water purifier. From the simulation results, the order of the magnitude of the effect on the energy consumption was as follows; conductivity of the insulator, thickness of the insulator, length of condenser, number of the fin, and length of the evaporator.
