Abstract
Dynamic sessile method was used to measure the surface tension and contact angle between molten Fe-C-S alloys and CaO substrate in purified argon atmosphere. By EPMA and FE-SEM analyses, CaS layer were found to form at the metal/substrate interface during desulfurization of molten iron with solid CaO, yielding increase in wettability of the molten iron on the substrate.
