    Abstract

In this paper, two-dimensional (2-D) spatial hierarchical B view prediction structure is proposed to exploit redundancies between neighboring frames in 2-D multi-view video sequences. We also develop a virtual view generation algorithm based on the bilateral disparity estimation and a novel skip mode. We implement the proposed structure by modifying the JMVM 5.1 software, and compare its performance with the conventional prediction structure. Test sequences are obtained from a 2-D (5 × 10) camera array. Simulation results show that proposed structure and the skip mode achieve about 1.2 dB coding gain.
