    Abstract

Preparation of nano-sized silicon coated graphite was carried out by a gas suspension spray method. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction and electcrochemical studies indicated that silicon coating on the surface of the graphite improves the charge-discharge capacities significantly. This improvement is attributed to amorphous silicon film that reversible alloying reaction with Li ions during cycles. Species of solvent and composition in the electrolyte also play an important role to determine the electrochemical performance of the cell.
