Abstract

Modeling of thrip wings for flapping unmanned aerial vehicle was carried out. Thrips wings was modeled using wing span 0.81 mm, average chord (rod length) 0.3 mm rod diameter 1.5 micron, and distance to diameter ratio was 10:1. The total normalized drag exerted on ellipsoids on the edge and in the center of a row moving along the normal direction. The results show that the length scale for Reynold number was rod diameter, NOT body size.
