Abstract
A method for the fabrication and structural analysis of binary colloidal crystals with two-dimensional superlattices was studied. In the system, colloidal particles are transported to and concentrated at the drying edge of the meniscus by an evaporation-induced water flow. The particles are then organized by the capillary force exerted on the particles that portrude through the drying meniscus. The results show that the confine convective assembly is a very convenient and efficient approach for quickly fabricating high-quality binary colloidal crystals over a large are using a very small amount of colloidal crystal.
