Abstract

Measurements on the lasing modes in microdisk lasers which provided features on out-coupling of whispering gallery modes (WGM) in far and near field regimes were presented. The far-field emission patterns were analyzed in polarization-resolved two-dimensional angular distribution measurements in the full half space. The near-field emission patterns were analyzed in spectrally resolved near-field scanning optical microsopy. The antinodes of WGM were observed in the spectrally resolved near-field images with super-resolution beyond the diffraction limit. The polarization-resolved far-field images showed that the antinodes of the standing wave WGM manifested them as TE-polarized directional emissions evenly distributed in azimuthal directions.
