    Abstract

In this paper, we propose a fast block motion estimation algorithm using the sum of partial norms which finds the same motion vectors as the exhaustive full search algorithm with a reduced computational load. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is about 3 or 4 times faster than the original exhaustive full search, and is about 2 times faster than the successive elimination algorithm (SEA).
