abstract = "Wireless data broadcasting is an effective way for provisioning Location Based Services (LBSs) due to its beneficial characteristics, such as bandwidth-efficiency and scalability. An important functionality of LBSs is to process spatial queries such as range queries and k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN) queries. In this paper, we explore the problem of processing the generalized spatial queries, which involve additional constraints on non-spatial attribute values (or value ranges) of data objects, in the wireless data broadcasting system. We present the Bucket-based Signature Rtree (BSR-tree) and the corresponding search algorithms for efficient processing of generalized spatial queries on the broadcast data stream. Experiments are conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed method.",
