    Abstract

Shape controllable synthesis of YF3:Yb 3+ /Er 3+ upconversion nanoparticles is of significant importance for understanding the shape dependent properties as well as for exploration of potential applications. Herein, YF3:Yb/Er nanorods and nanoneedles were selectively synthesized using CaCl 2 .2H 2 O and KNO 3 inorganic salts, respectively.
