Abstract
We present recent progress in carbon nanotube (CNT) field emitters for the application in backlight unit (BLU) of liquid crystal display (LCD). Printed CNTs without activation process and electroplating RNA-CNT hybrid are developed for the cost-effective techniques. Formulation of organic binders for the CNT paste has been optimized to form cracks automatically during firing process, leading to exposure of CNT networks in between the cracks. Such formed CNT networks show ∼ 1 V/μm turn-on field and100 folds higher emission current density, compared to the conventional tape-activated CNTpaste.
