Abstract

Few-micron-sized elliptically deformed InGaAsP-InP microdisk lasers with a refractive index of 3.4 were realized. Far-field measurements showed that structures of 7.6 μm and 5.4μm produced highly directional emissions. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that the directionality of the emission becomes more pronounced as the size of the structure decreases.
