Abstract

A novel type of multiplexer based on the use of fiber gratings and polarization beam splitters (PBS) is presented. It consists of low-cost elements but shows high stability against perturbations. Schematics diagrams of the add/drop multiplexer are also shown. The low signal leakage is confirmed by crosstalk penalty measurement and the bit error rate of the dropped signal is also measured.
