Abstract

The congestion control for the sidelink communication in cellular vehicle-to-everything (LTE-V2X) environment is only at the fledgling stage in terms of standardization. This paper shows that the current specifications fail to adequately control the channel busy ratio (CBR) under heavy channel loads. To solve the problem, a new CBR-channel occupancy ratio (CR)-limit mapping is proposed. A control function that more reliably adjusts the transmission rates of the vehicles to the desirable target CBR range while achieving improved fairness is also proposed.
