Abstract
Control centers are responsible for the supervision, monitoring, and control of power systems. They are equipped with energy management systems (EMS) supporting software applications such as load flow, state estimation, and security analysis. In addition, control centers have access to a large amount of information regarding the power system states, e.g., currents, and voltages, that is acquired and transmitted through the SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) systems. With that information, operators in a control center monitor the power system’s real-time conditions and maintain the system operation at a normal state subject to economic and security constraints.
