    Abstract

The investigation of magnetoresistance (MR) property degradation behavior of bottom (B)- and top (T) - spin valve (SV) structures on annealing was done. The two major factors were found to be the differences in interfacial energies of IrMn/CoFe due to the deposition sequence, as well as in grain boundary area. Better thermal stability was shown by B-SV featuring less grain boundaries and nonabrupt IrMn/CoFe interface.
