    Abstract

At the present time, a range of diverse networks are undergoing rapid evolution and inspiring numerous applications. As one among many networks, mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are effectively working with routing protocols. But, the majority of routing protocols have required a unique identifier, such as an IP address. Until now, IP address assignment in MANET remains unresolved. Without a centralized agent server, the means to allocate IP addresses is an important issue for MANET. This paper investigates previous work about basic principles and main achievements based on the technique of IP address auto-configuration.
