Abstract

In this paper, an iterative receiver for joint data detection and channel estimation scheme is presented for the wireless OFDM systems. Main feature of the proposed scheme is to design a rather simple iterative receiver by employing two-dimensional channel estimator in time/frequency domain with a reduced complexity Analytical expression of error variance is derived to evaluate the performance as a function of the number of iterations. Furthermore, the analytical properties are discussed in terms of the error variances of channel estimation and decoding process subject to the iterative principle. The simulation results show that the bit error rate (BER) of the proposed iterative receiver achieves near-ideal performance within about 0.2dB in signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR). We also investigate the mismatch effect of the estimation filter subject to unknown channel statistics.
