Abstract

A new composition for Li+ conducting glass with an ionic conductivity >10-6S/cm was suggested in Li2O-B 2O3-V2O5 system. The maximum conductivity was found along the composition lines yLi2O-(95-y)B 2O3-5V2O5 (45≤y≤47) and zLi2O-50B2O3-(50-z)V2O5 (45≤z≤48). The conductivity of the binary Li2O-B 2O3 glasses with an identical Li2O content is significantly smaller than that of the ternary Li2O-B 2O3-V2O5 glasses, which indicated a mixed former effect between B2O3 and V2O 5. The improvement in ionic conduction was discussed in relation to the change in the glass structure.
