Abstract

To achieve the best combination of magnetic softness and high magnetostriction, three different sets of polymer bonded samples were made with: amorphous (Tb0.33Fe0.67)0.98B0.02 powder produced by rapid solidification and milling; amorphous (Tb0.33Fe0.67)0.98B0.02d powder, rapidly solidified and milled; and crystalline Terfenol-D powder. The magnetic and magnetostrictive properties of the samples were determined as a function of binder content and compaction pressure.
