Abstract
The properties of the optical-absorption spectrum of the Laughlin liquid state in the presence of a localized dynamic perturbation are investigated. We find that the absorption spectrum consists of magnetoroton satellites. The threshold of the absorption spectrum is finite and a power-law singularity is absent because of the incompressibility of the Laughlin state. A possibility for direct experimental observation of magnetorotons is discussed.
