Abstract
Polymer-bonded composites of a Fe-Co based alloy were fabricated and their magnetic and mechanical properties were characterized. The composites exhibited high magnetostriction of 105 ppm measured at an applied field of 4.3 kOe. The magnetostriction was increased by the alignment of particles by applying a magnetic field during compaction, and this effect was greater for larger particle sizes.
