Abstract

A few selected topics on the Kondo effects in mesoscopic systems have been reviewed. Included are the effects of the competition of the spin polarisation and the superconductivity with the Kondo correlation in quantum dots coupled to ferromagnetic and superconducting leads, respectively, and the SU(4) Kondo effects due to the orbital degeneracy in vertical quantum dots, carbon nanotube quantum dots, and lateral double quantum dots.
