Abstract

A miniaturized metal-insulator-capacitor (MIM) composite right/left-handed (CRLH) transmission line structure was proposed and its application to backfire-to-endfire leaky-wave antenna was demonstrated. It was found that the MIM arrangement can provide high series capacitance required for LH effects. The equivalent lumped-element (LE) circuit models were also developed. The results show that the MIM CRLH transmission line which was demonstrated as a backfire-to-endfire leaky-wave antenna exhibit excellent scanning performances.
