Abstract
We have studied the two-dimensional Heisenberg model with antisymmetric exchange interactions by employing a Monte Carlo simulation, which confirmed a Kosterlitz-Thouless transition. The Kosterlitz-Thouless transition temperature and the energy required to create a bound pair of vortices were calculated as a function of the magnitude of the antisymmetric exchange interaction and compared with the results of the supposedly equivalent two-dimensional easy-plane Heisenberg model.
