Abstract

The non-isothermal phase formation kinetics of SrBi2Ta2O9-Bi3TiTaO9 powders was studied. The powders were prepared by sol-gel technique. Differential thermal analysis (DTA) was carried out at different heating rates. The analysis showed that the origin of the reduced Aurivillius phase formation temperature in the powders is the lowered energy barrier for the fluorite-to-Aurivillius phase transformation.
