N2 - In this paper, a bearingless linear motor is proposed, in which a mover can be magnetically levitated during linear movement without any magnetic bearings. In the structure of both-side linear motor, it is enabled by controlling the amplitudes of phase currents of both sides based on the variation of air gap. Thus, it is very efficient and compact. The feasibility of the proposed bearingless linear motor was experimentally investigated with the simplest controller.
