Abstract
The main objective of the present paper is to use specific constitutive equations developed to model the elastic-viscoplastic response of metals and to show how a Leonov-type model can be obtained as a special case. This establishes a direct connection between the tensorial structure of the constitutive equations for elastic-viscoplastic metals and those for polymeric liquids. Recognizing this connection can be important because it follows that many of the analytical tools developed by fluid mechanicians can be used directly to analyze a large class of difficult problems associated with the plastic flow of metals.
