    Abstract

To investigate the emission properties of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), an indium based cathode was formulated with various surface treatments. In this case, we can demonstrate the field emission properties of unalloyed CNTs as compared with the conventional screen-printed method. We have demonstrated that the sprayed carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on the indium layer were vertically aligned by surface treatment methods such as taping and applying acritical bias field. From these emitter surfaces, the CNT can be turned on with a field as low as 1.4V/μm. An emission current density of5mA/cm2 at 1.8V/μm can be attained.
