    Abstract

The performance of a Pre-rake combiner (PRC) for a bi-polar Time-Hopping Ultra Wideband (TH UWB) system with simple receiver structure is studied in a realistic channel mode that is accepted by the IEEE 802.15.3a task group. A Pre-rake combiner contributes to the boost of the desired signal and the mitigation of the inter-symbol interference (ISI). The significant improvement is accomplished from 10 to -2 BER by the pre-rake combining fingers. Master pre-rake combiner is installed in an access point counting the UWB channel characteristic.
