    Abstract

We studied the proton-irradiation effect on the photoluminescence in the MEH-PPV conjugated polymer. The integrated PL intensity was severely weakened by low-energy irradiation, but was affected only weakly by high-energy irradiation. The integrated PL intensity decreased with increasing irradiation dosage and the decrease was steeper for lower-energy irradiation. The reduction in the integrated PL intensity can be attributed to proton-irradiation-induced hydrogen loss from the MEH-PPV polymer.
