Abstract
A new approach for constructing Polydiacetylene (PDA) supramolecules in electrospun microfibers has been developed. PDA supramolecules embedded matrices and host molecules was used for creation of well defined nano and microscale structures and substances with unique optical, electronic, and mechanical properties. PDA silica nanocomposites that posses hexagonal, cubic, and lamellar structure, and hybrid sol gel matrices with encapsulated antibody containing PDAs were used for biosensor applications. Electrospinning is a efficient method for the formation of long polymers fibres. Patterned color and fluorescence images from a single electrospun fiber were also observed. SEM images of formed fibers also showed highly uniform diameters. A single electrospun fiber was also observed by fluorescence images. PDA encapsulated polymer fibres should lead the way to the discovery of new and interesting PDA based materials.
