N2 - For a long time, shipbuilding industry has experienced suffering in the ship production from unexpected problems such as short-term delivery of ships, schedule changes, and deteriorating weather conditions, etc. Even though many researchers carried out various studies to improve their competitiveness as well as to detect problems in advance and present immediate solutions, it is still unresolved and very critical to maintain a cutting edge productivity of shipbuilding companies. In this paper, we propose a processbased production planning method to be capable to generate and evaluate a best alternative to an unexpected problem in ship production. The best alternative is generated, simulated and analyzed through a consecutive 4-steps, i.e., constraint structure modeling, work dispatching modeling, processbased modeling & simulation, and simulation-based analysis.
